Lingling is the daughter of Wufangchu and an English noble woman, know only as Mary. Mary was really a Dragon disguised as a human. Lingling was born in Hong Kong in 1904. Her dragon blood made her immortal so she stopped aging in her late teens. She grew up being a spoiled rich girl who's daddy gave her whatever she wanted. Her mother had to be the disciplinarian. her life was fun and exciting and focused on Chinese culture. She learned all of the classic arts.
Lingling's life changed forever when the Japanese invaded Hong Kong in 1941. Her mother was killed by a bomb and she went into shock. She knew her mother was an immortal being and she had no idea that immortals could be killed. Seeing her mother killed, she realized for the first time that she could also be killed. she was taken prisoner by the Japanese without even putting up a fight because she was so emotionally broken in that moment.
Lingling endured cruel and humiliating treatment by the Japanese soldiers until she was rescued from her prison by Sakura Gozen. Sakura stayed in Hong Kong but she sent Lingling with a bunch of other prisoners to safety and she returned to her father, who was surprised to find out she was still alive.
Lingling never mentally recovered from her experience. She became totally dependent on her father and over protective of him. She also became dark and twisted on the inside and wanted to inflict pain on others.
Lingling spent the Cold war years working in secret as part of her fathers organization, which was equal parts criminal enterprise, anti communist militia and Chinese Cultural Preservation Society. She did many dangerous missions all over Asia and Russia under the name of Lady Dragon, but after she was captured and had to be rescued from a Russian prison, her father decided that he wanted her closer to him where she would be safe. She became one of his personal body guards and eventually took on the job of training certain Cat Girls to be obedient servants for very wealthy clients.
When Lingling first laid eyes on Paladin's clone brother, Lee Two, she saw the spark of divinity in him that came from his Volsung heritage and she was drawn to him. Lee Two, was the first Paladin clone and he was grown from a whole hand not just a speck of DNA so he was more like a twin brother than a clone. That Spark of divinity in him was much brighter than in any of the other clones. Ling ling though it was just because Dr. Fang had tampered with the DNA to make the later clones Chinese.
When Lee Two met the real Paladin, he broke free from his programing and left. Lingling let him go because she decided to set her sites on the original Paladin.
When Paladin was captured, while fighting in the Chinese civil war, Lingling personally took charge of "punishing" him for defeating her father and depriving him of the Golden Apple. She was fascinated and delighted by cutting him and watching him heal, and she also abused him for her sexual pleasure.
Lingling was not mentally stable and she became convinced that she and Paladin were destined to be together. When Paladin escaped but returned, her delusion was reinforced. When Dr. Fang planned to use the Teaching machine on Paladin, she decided to recue him, and expected Paladin to fall in love with her. When Paladin didn't return her affection, she blamed Swan Song. After the battle of Shaolin cave when Paladin and his friends were taken captive again, she had Swansong locked in a soundproof box and left to die. She didn't know that Swansong didn't need food any more and she had no idea she would be able to survive. Meanwhile she tried again to seduce Paladin, and once again failed and resorted to sexually assaulting him while he was chained up.
When Paladin and his friends escaped, Lingling was sent to therapy by her father who had begun to realize her obsession was not healthy. Lingling did get some help from therapy but was not totally free from her obsessions. instead she started a blog where she wrote a lot about her sick fantasies and actual experiences with Paladin. She even posted pictures of them together, taken by the security cameras.
When Wufangchu discovered that Dream Princess was keeping a Golden Apple in her dreamlands he sent Lingling to get it. In the Dreamlands Lingling changed into a dragon which we can only assume is her dream form. She was able to get the apple and take it to her father. He ate it and became, in his own words "a god".
THE WEDDING- The Mighty Paladin S7 E12
Wufangchu offered to give Lingling anything she wanted as a reward for getting the Golden Apple and he wasn't surprised at all when she asked for Paladin.
Wu kidnapped Paladin and his family, and the pastor of his Church to force Paladin to marry Lingling. But while preparations for the wedding were underway Paladin spent several days alone with Lingling and convinced her that they couldn't be happy together, and that her father really was a villain who wasn't going to change. This broke Lingling's heart and turned her against her father.
Unfortunately for her she couldn't imagine living without her father, so the thought of just leaving him was unbearable. Also she wanted to do something to make up for all that she and her father had put Paladin through.
After the wedding she killed her father and then herself in front of a crowd of shocked wedding guests. This left Paladin as the new emperor. Lingling knew about her brother Wubailong but also knew that he was hidden away in a remote monastery and wouldn't come out to claim the throne.
Special Abilities[]
Lingling was half dragon, which made her immortal. That didn't mean she couldn't be killed but she didn't age and would never have died naturally. She was immune to poison and fire, and she could see the spark of divinity in Paladin that came from his Volsung heritage.
Not long before she died, Lingling was given mind control powers by Dr. Fang's Respec machine. She Used this power to make everyone stand helpless so no one could stop her from killing herself. Paladin was immune to her control but she had he father's new bodyguards, Jade and Peach restrain him.
Lingling was also a master of white crane kung fu and could use a naginata or sword. As a secretive immortal she likely had many other powers that were not revealed but these are all of the powers she was seen using during the series.

Lingling spoke English, Cantonese and Russian. When she spoke English she had a British accent.
